Rabbit rabbit
Dear Friends,
Rabbit rabbit! On the first day of the month, we say, "Rabbit rabbit" for luck. Why? I don't know. Susan Branch, Queen of Cottagecore but way back when we called it just being cozy (and maybe a little hokey), told me to do this years ago and who am I to argue with Susan Branch?
Last month, I sewed up a few drafts of CoolCrafting's Briar Bunnies, trying to get everything just right. The first bunny had seams that didn't quite line up and the ears were wonky. The second a flat bottom due to insufficient stuffing and visible pattern notches because I cut them too deep. The third was perfect so I made a fourth!
And of course I sewed up the coordinating dresses and jackets for the pair. When I pulled the fabric bolts off the shelf at Patched Works, I didn't realize that the Tula Pink Meteor Showers fabric (left, from the Roar line) had a border print featuring dinosaurs whose demise the meteor caused! I was already sold on the pink meteor middle section and had picked out Tula Pink Tiny Beasts: Outfoxed to coordinate, so I bought the lot and chopped off one of the borders and just sewed up the outfits as planned in store. I did at least save the dinosaur border (and didn't use very much of the yardage) so I think I'll be able to come up with something to show off the whole design. But I did manage to fussy cut and sneak a dinosaur onto two pockets!
My niece doesn't like the faces because she said the embroidered X eyes look like the bunnies are dead. She has a point. I whispered to her that Auntie Darcie was lazy and didn't sew on buttons for eyes, and that maybe these bunnies weren't dead they were just taking a nap because they were tired from hopping around in their fancy dresses and jackets.
These bunnies join my existing CoolCrafting menagerie of two rabbits and a hound, with plans for more creatures.
Your friend, Darcie
